computerWired Magazine reports on new restrictions on Army bloggers.

The U.S. Army has ordered soldiers to stop posting to blogs or sending personal e-mail messages, without first clearing the content with a superior officer, Wired News has learned. The directive, issued April 19, is the sharpest restriction on troops’ online activities since the start of the Iraq war. And it could mean the end of military blogs, observers say.

I’m no expert on the UCMJ, but, since Bloggers are more and more considered to be Journalists, one has to wonder what the military is thinking. You, know, the First Amendment and all that silliness.

I guess they’re afraid soldiers will voice criticism that could be picked up by the media. And that would mean bad publicity for the war effort. More and more soldiers are speaking out against the war, so the story that “soldiers support the president and believe in the mission” is no longer holding water.

No damn way they can stop my nephews e-mailing , writing or calling their parents and their uncle.

So far, they haven’t speaking out against the so-called war but who knows what’s the ante in a day, a month….and so on.

But. we are still in a Democracy. The opinions of the citizens should be valued to the utmost and soldiers are citizens of this country. They are the ones who are most involved and the greatest risks and not these so -called leaders, whom I surmised , most of ‘em anyway, haven’t served in the arm forces.

Our troops are aware that our leaders are not in agreement on what to do.
They do care for their futures.

Let the soldiers have a say in this ‘civil war’ . They can vote themselves out of it.

    M.O.O. - my opinion only.
