Child star and “adult” Kirk Cameron plans to illuminate us all regarding the absolute “Science” behind “Intelligent Design” on May 5th. Alternately, one could, like I plan to, sit down with a bucket of Coronas and celebrate el Cinco de Mayo, the anniversary of the defeat of Maximillian’s Army by Mexico.

ABC … will host a debate in New York City on May 5, 2007. Moderated by Martin Bashir, the debate will be streamed LIVE on their website and will also be filmed for “Nightline.”

Cameron (”Growing Pains” sitcom and Left Behind movies) will speak on what he believes is a major catalyst for atheism: Darwinian evolution. The popular actor stated, “Evolution is unscientific. In reality, it is a blind faith that’s preached with religious zeal as the gospel truth. I’m embarrassed to admit that I was once a naïve believer in the theory. The issue of intelligent design is extremely relevant at the moment. Atheism has become very popular in universities–where it’s taught that we evolved from animals and that there are no moral absolutes. So we shouldn’t be surprised when there are school shootings.”….

“Most people equate atheism with intellectualism,” Comfort added, “but it’s actually an intellectual embarrassment. I am amazed at how many people think that God’s existence is a matter of faith. It’s not, and I will prove it at the debate - once and for all. This is not a joke. I will present undeniable scientific proof that God exists.

It may not be a joke, but I’m laughing, nevertheless. Hysterical

What an embarrassment that so many Americans can’t even grasp the most basic fundamentals of biology. A German news site had an excellent summary on why so many Americans fall victim to such nonsense as evolution denial:

To take a document that has not been updated for 2000 years (because of the Roman occupation disbanding the law-makers) that is FULL of contradictions, Babylonian legenda and bed-time stories, and only puts across a point in the form of highly debateable innuendo, should not ever be a basis for ruling our lives.
How would a “prophet” describe a helicopter to a bunch of farmers who can only define wood from metal, for instance. They had NOTHING in their lexicon to do that.
If you go to some of the “primitive” tribes in Sarawak and tell them you flew there in an “Iron Bird”, they would ask “What’s iron?” Get the point?
Creationism is the biggest load of codswallop ever devised by the “intelligentsia” of the modern world, who refuse to believe that nothing existed until 6000 years ago, despite the fact that cities 9000 years and older have been discovered under the Indian Ocean - which means almost the whole of human history has to be re-written.
Oh yes - these flat-earthers also have their own accredited scientists to back up their claims.

Boy, do they ever. I’ve been jousting with a bunch of Born Again morons (BAs) on the MB from our State Capitol, Salem, OR. http://community.statesmanjournal.com/forums/viewforum.php?f=2 It’s frightening how they work so diligently to codify their weird Biblical ideology after we’ve carefully kept our laws religiously neutral for two centuries.

    ” Ditto”, Dave.

Yeah a 6-pack of CORONAS and a couple more of the Philippine’s FINEST–San Miguel Beer.

That’s what CINCO de MAYO celebration is for and forget science/intelligent science …for a while.

However, my one year old granddaughter is visiting and I’m gonna try to PRETEND TO celebrate less.

I’ve been celebrating this ever since I came to this GREAT COUNTRY 49 yrs ago and I ain’t gonna stop now.

But NOT with beer without the ’spirits’.

    HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO.
